Quality ECCD  Working Group

The Quality Working Group aims to address the CG Key Focus Area identified as ‘Quality ECCD -  Diverse Viewpoints & Their Implications’.  Specifically, the WG aims to focus on strengthening and expanding the diversity of the CG knowledge base re ‘quality’ ECCD and address the implications in relation to key issues such as:

  • child assessment;
  • measurement, monitoring and evaluation in the context of programming
  • standards and regulations in the context of government policies
  • improving ‘Children Readiness for School &  Life,  and Schools Readiness for Children’ etc.

This new Working Group, plans on taking a phased approach which will include strengthening and expanding  the diversity of the CG knowledge base regarding Quality ECCD, through  exploring diverse viewpoints that exist regarding issues of ‘quality’, identifying the underlying paradigms of this diversity, and how and why the distinctions make a difference.

Proposed Activities will include:

i)  Convening at the 2007 Annual Consultation to agree on a plan of action, including  identifying  possible sub-groups within the umbrella Quality Working Group;

ii) Addressing the implications of these diverse viewpoints re ‘quality’ in relation to specific issues and sub-groups identified.
