Purpose: The ECCD in Emergencies Working Group (EEWG) is a key mechanism for CG Partners and Associates to actively contribute to achieving the CG Objectives: and through the CG Partners’ field work, facilitate actual implementation of ECCD programs in emergencies and post-crisis transition settings, and document results.
The purpose of the ECCD in Emergencies Working Group (EEWG) is to analyze and synthesise information gathered from research, case studies, successful practices and tools from the fields of ECCD, and Emergencies and use this information to:

Develop tools and publications to disseminate this information for use by global actors and stakeholders in ECCD and Emergencies

Advocate for improved investments, policies, and commitment to action related to young children in Emergency and Transition situations

Inform the current gap in understanding that ECCD programming in Emergency situations needs to include the diverse needs of children in each phase of the emergency, transition and normalcy

Inform capacity development of ECCE and Emergencies’ stakeholders to effectively act for children in these settings
Outcomes:

With help of the UNICEF intern and Ryerson University student support program, collect, analyze and synthesize current research and tools in ECCD in Emergencies

Recognition of the EEWG as the ECCD in Emergencies INEE Task Team

Contribute to the revision process for the INEE Minimum Standards for Education in Emergencies, Chronic Crises and Early Reconstruction

Identify complementary materials for INEE’s Minimum Standards

Produce field guidelines for practitioners in ECCD in Emergencies

Update and revise the INEE Good Practice Guide on ECD (currently posted on the INEE website)

Disseminate information via CG Newsletters and Coordinators' Notebook with research results, recommendations and calls for action around ECCD in Emergencies

Improved links with INGO and donor partner community working on ECCD in Emergencies

Status: A TOR has been distributed to CG Partners along with a call for Working Group members. Additional members still needed and welcomed. We will also need to explore how best to involve experienced actors in Emergency Education from various agencies and organizations who are not currently members of the CG.
