The Machel Reports

Promotion and protection of the rights of children:Impact of armed conflict on children (Machel, G., 1996).

The Machel study (1996), The impact of armed conflict on children, was the underpinning movement for children experiencing armed conflict. This study galvanized a call for action, asserting that the responsibility to protect children in conflict lies upon all people rather than upon one organization or agency. Furthermore, it emphasizes the leadership and advocacy roles which must be upheld among officials and representatives within various organizations (e.g., United Nations, UNICEF, etc.) in order to ameliorate the effects of armed conflict and children.

A strategic report of the study entitled, The Machel study and the 10-year strategic review will be available soon.
